I love combining masking with meditation. It makes me feel even more productive to knock out two self-care goals in one sitting and I've been known to be a little type A about self-care. Not to mention, we believe in an inner and outer approach to skincare and wellness. Meditation reduces your body's inflammatory response to stress, which in turn helps improve skin health including the quality of the skin barrier, plumping and firming, and improving acne. The skin is truly a reflection of our health and our emotions on the inside. Meditation has been shown to reduce negative emotions and slow the aging process. Combine with a good, healthy clean beauty treatment mask and you're glowing from the inside and out.
Types of Meditation
Meditation has various different forms so I tend to switch it up. Some of my favorite types of meditation that you could combine with masking are:
Body Scan/ Laying Meditation
A body scan mediation can be done by lying on a comfortable surface and simply bringing awareness to your body, its sensations, emotions, and feelings of tension and mindfully relaxing each area. When thoughts arise, gently bright awareness back to your body and breath.
This is the most common form of meditation that involves sitting in a comfortably seated position with good posture. Begin to bring your awareness to your breath. You might focus on a phrase like “Breathing in, I calm my body. Breathing out, I smile.” When you notice your attention drifting with your thoughts, gently but firmly bring your attention back to your breath. I also like the phrase, “I’m back.”.
Mindful Gentle Yoga
Doing 15 minutes of gentle yoga and stretching, while focusing on deep breathing, is a wonderful mindfulness and stress relieving activity to combine with masking.
Steam Bath Meditation
This is one of my favorites. I add epsom salts, essential oils, and dry brush before-hand for some added detox. I basically do a sitting meditation in the bath while masking and soaking my stress and toxins away.
We are now offering guided meditations and treatment mask enhancements that can be added to your infrared sauna session. You may also choose to meditate on your own with a sitting mediation in sauna. When you remove your mask you will feel a rejuvenated glow inside and out.
