Wellness Lifestyle: Preparing for Recharging + Rejuvenation During the Holiday Season

The holiday season is often described as the most wonderful time of the year, but for many of us, it’s also the busiest. Between gatherings, shopping, family commitments, and year-end responsibilities, it can quickly become a season of depletion instead of restoration.
At Citron, we believe that true wellness means intentionally creating space to recharge before you run out of energy. The holidays don’t have to leave you drained; they can be a time to fill your own cup, reconnect with your body, and move through the season with calm energy and presence. All it takes is a little planning ahead.
Reflect + Recalibrate Before the Rush
Before the holiday pace fully begins, take a moment to pause and reflect on what you truly want this season to feel like.
• What do you want to remember about this time when it’s over?
• What do you want to feel more of: peace, joy, connection, or ease?
Each year, I find myself intentionally planning how I want the next holiday season to feel based on how the last one went. This year, I knew I wanted to feel more at ease so that I could focus on the joy of the season with our guests, our team, and my family. So, I created a holiday system that outlines both my business and personal to-dos so I can complete as many as possible before the rush.
Setting an intention helps align your actions with your energy so your plans reflect what actually nourishes you.
Prioritize Rituals That Replenish You
We often talk about “self-care” during the holidays, but what’s important is creating rituals that help you feel grounded, not treating them as just pampering.
These can be small, sensory moments that remind you to slow down and reconnect with yourself:
• Morning breathwork or gratitude journaling before the day begins
• Evening baths or dry brushing to calm your nervous system
• Weekly spa treatments or sauna sessions that restore circulation and relieve stress
I love to reserve my infrared sauna and facial combo right before Thanksgiving week. It resets my nervous system and clears my mind before the busyness begins.
Even fifteen minutes of wellness-focused care can reset your energy and help you show up more present for the people and moments that matter. This is how long I spend in my daily morning breathwork and lemon water ritual, followed by some journaling and a gratitude list.
Plan Your Wellness Like You Plan Your Schedule
Just as we map out holiday events, travel, and to-dos, we can also schedule time to nurture ourselves.
Treat wellness like an appointment with yourself that deserves as much commitment as a meeting or party.
Whenever I have an extra busy or stressful week coming up that I know I’ll need restoration from, I proactively schedule a spa day right after.
I also schedule “Us Days” with my husband, where we take the day off work while our daughters are at school and simply enjoy the day together, going out for a delicious breakfast, packing a lunch, and reading a book at the beach when the weather is nice, and just decompressing together.
Both of these noticeably restore my mood and energy, making me more motivated and productive at work, and more patient and present with my daughters.
By intentionally planning your self-care, you prevent overwhelm and ensure your body and mind stay aligned with your goals.
Honor Rest as a Celebration
Rest doesn’t have to be earned; it can be a form of celebration itself. When we allow ourselves to slow down, we make space for gratitude, creativity, and renewal.
In my early years of spa ownership, I’d push through the holidays completely exhausted. Now I recognize that rest isn’t indulgent; it’s the reset that keeps me inspired and is essential for my mental, emotional, and physical well-being. In the past, there were holiday seasons when I ended up at my doctor’s office due to physical symptoms stemming from stress.
Now, I not only proactively reserve spa days and schedule self-care throughout the season, I also intentionally booked a relaxation-focused getaway to a Caribbean island with my family in January.
Giving yourself something to look forward to helps you mentally move through the stressful moments with a light at the end of the tunnel.
Reframing rest as an essential ingredient for joy and wellness helps you incorporate it as a natural part of your lifestyle.
Your Wellness Reset
If you’d like to step into the holidays feeling balanced, radiant, and recharged, we would love to create that experience for you.
Reserving your next spa day early will help you move into the season feeling calm and replenished.
Remember, your energy sets the tone for your home, your work, and your holidays. When you care for yourself first, everyone around you benefits.
