The Fall Transition Skin + Wellness Guide: What’s Current + Worth Trying in 2026

5 min read

There’s something about September that naturally changes the rhythm of things.

The mornings get cooler, the days get a little shorter, summer schedules wind down, and many of us start craving a little more structure again.

Our skin is transitioning, too. Months of sun, heat and humidity can leave behind pigmentation, dehydration, dullness and changes in texture.

What felt good on your skin and body in July may not be what you need heading into September.

So instead of another list of everything you should be doing this fall, we wanted to share what we're actually paying attention to right now:

What feels current in skin and wellness, and what do we think is actually worth trying?

Here’s our Citron take for fall 2026.

1. Post-summer skin correction

Worth trying if: You’re noticing sun spots, uneven tone, dullness or changes in texture after summer.

Fall is when our skincare conversations naturally begin to shift toward correcting some of what summer may have left behind.

As we move away from peak summer sun exposure, we start talking more about professional exfoliation, brightening treatments and peels.

For pigmentation and post-summer dullness, one treatment we're especially interested in is our Advanced Renewal with Hydra-Bright protocol.

Glo’s professional Hydra-Bright AHA Glow Peel combines lactic and ferulic acids and is designed to smooth, hydrate and brighten the complexion, making it particularly relevant for hyperpigmentation, uneven tone and texture.

Citron also offers additional peel options for concerns including photo-damage, pigmentation, texture and visible signs of aging. The right peel should be selected according to your skin, goals, sensitivity, home care and treatment history. And yes, SPF is still a fall product.

2. Give your skincare routine a fall edit

Worth trying if: Your skin suddenly doesn't seem to love the same routine it did a few months ago.

Before buying an entirely new fall skincare routine, look at what your skin is actually asking for.

For post-summer pigmentation and uneven tone, some Glo Skin Beauty products we particularly like this time of year include Hydra-Bright Alpha Arbutin Drops, Hydra-Bright AHA Hydrator and Hydra-Bright Pro 5 Liquid Exfoliant: all included among Glo's recommended home-care products alongside its professional Hydra-Bright protocol.

That doesn't mean everyone needs all three.

One person's priority may be pigmentation and exfoliation. Someone else's skin may need hydration and barrier support. Sensitive skin may actually benefit from simplifying.

The skincare trend we're much more interested in than a 12-step routine is: Personalization.

Use what your skin needs, use it correctly, and use it consistently.

3. Botanical skincare + clinical skincare

Worth trying if: You love the natural sensory side of skincare but still want professional treatment designed around your skin goals.

This is one of our favorite fall directions because it sits right at the center of Citron's philosophy: rustic nature meets modern science.

Our seasonal Autumn Botanical Synergy Facial combines locally sourced Elderberry + Ginger herbal preparations with professional Glo Skin Beauty.

The treatment incorporates Elderberry + Ginger herbal oil, Glo Hydra-Bright AHA Cleanser, Pumpkin Enzyme, professional extractions, hydration, massage, Restorative Mask and Hydra-Bright Alpha Arbutin Drops. Our 90-minute version also includes LED light therapy and an additional locally made Elderberry + Ginger mask.

Pumpkin enzyme, warming ginger, elderberry, herbal oils, steam, massage, aromatic towels....

It feels like fall, but there's also intention behind what we're using on the skin, too.

4. Body care + grounding rituals

Worth trying if: Your face gets all the attention, or you feel like you've been moving from one thing to the next without much time to slow down.

We're happy to see more attention being paid to caring for the skin below the neck.

As cooler, drier air arrives, fall is a natural time to bring richer hydration, body oils and exfoliation back into the routine.

Two VOYA products we especially like for the transition are Buoyancy Luxury Body Butter, a rich blend of seaweed, shea and cocoa butters with lavender and rosemary, and Mindful Dreams Relaxing Body Oil, which combines seaweed, rosehip and argan oils with lavender and rosemary aromas.

Rather than rushing through body care, make it part of your evening.

Warm aromatic shower, body oil massaged into warm skin, a richer butter where you need it, comfortable pajamas, and lower lights.

That idea of grounding through warmth, scent and touch also runs through our seasonal Autumn Botanical Synergy Body Remedy.

The treatment incorporates dry brushing, Elderberry and Ginger body polish and a hydrating aloe mask made with local herbs, followed by warm Elderberry and Ginger herbal oil, massage, hot stones, aromatic steamed towels and a warm-oil scalp treatment.

It's exactly the kind of treatment that starts to feel especially good when New England begins to cool down.

5. Wellness is getting simpler again

Worth trying if: Your wellness routine has somehow become another job.

One of the shifts we're paying attention to in 2026 is a move toward simpler, lower-tech, more sustainable wellness.

Walking, time outside, sleep, home-cooking, analog hobbies, phone-free experiences, community, quiet, and rituals that don't need to be measured.

There's something refreshing about wellness practices that let us simply experience our lives.

A few we're bringing into fall:

Take a phone-free walk: Fall in New England is too beautiful to experience entirely through a screen.

Try an analog hour: Read a physical book, cook, journal, knit, do a puzzle, take a bath or listen to music without simultaneously scrolling.

Make your sauna session quiet: No podcast, email or phone. Let the warmth, breath, and quiet be the activity.

Bring back something you enjoy that accomplishes absolutely nothing. Bake, paint, garden, take photographs, go apple picking, play a game with your kids or invite friends over.

Not everything we do needs to improve us.

Joy, curiosity, connection and having something to look forward to belong in wellness, too.

6. Eat like it's fall

Worth trying if: You want nourishing food to feel comforting and nourishing, and fall makes this easy.

Think apples and pears, pumpkin and winter squash, sweet potatoes, dark leafy greens, beans and lentils, walnuts and pumpkin seeds.

But we're just as interested in the ritual surrounding the food.

A pot of soup simmering on a Sunday afternoon, apples from a local orchard, roasted vegetables while the house starts to smell like dinner, tea after a chilly walk....

Seasonal foods can be nourishing, satisfying, and enjoyable at the same time.

This fall I'm looking forward to making some healthy comfort meals with apples from apple picking with my girls and visiting loca farmer's markets.

The Citron Fall 2026 Edit

If we had to narrow everything down, here's what's on our list this season:

For post-summer pigmentation + brightness: Advanced Renewal with Hydra-Bright and personalized home care

For seasonal skin: Autumn Botanical Synergy Facial

For resurfacing: A professional peel selected for your individual skin and goals

For grounding + body care: Autumn Botanical Synergy Body Remedy

For warmth + quiet: Infrared sauna- bonus points for leaving your phone outside

For recovery: Massage before your body gets to the point where it's begging for it

For home: Richer body hydration, botanical oils and a few evening rituals you genuinely look forward to

Outside of Citron:

Walk, eat seasonally, protect your sleep, cook, get outside, put your phone down sometimes, see your friends, do something simply because you enjoy it and keep it simple.

Use the transition to notice what your skin needs now, what your body is asking for and what helps you feel grounded and well.

Then decide what's actually worth bringing with you into the new season.
