Hydrating + Restoring Skincare Ritual for Dry Skin

Updated: Oct 4, 2021

Fall is here and the cooler, drier weather is in full affect. The shifts our bodies are experiencing right now can affect our energy patterns, mood and our skin. We crave warm, grounding experiences like warm apple cider and teas, hot baths and getting cozy by the fire. Our skin craves hydration, exfoliation and gentle care. This creates the perfect opportunity for lots of self-care rituals that restore our inner and outer balance.

First up, a relaxing and hydrating skincare ritual. Set a calming mood by creating a zen space with some soft music and soy candles. Fill a bowl with warm water, some of your favorite herbs and a soft facecloth. I love rosemary in the Fall. The aroma is grounding while also awakening to the senses and is full of antioxidants for the skin.

Step 1: Cleanse

Begin by pre-cleansing with Glo Skin Beauty Essential Cleansing Oil. This cleanser is super moisturizing and will help loosen up dirt and debris before you go in with your cleanser. Next, you’ll want to cleanse. A great cleanser to use for dry skin is the Gentle Cream Cleanser. Gently remove your cleanser with your warm aromatic face cloth.

Step 2: Exfoliate

Is there any other scrub but the Pumpkin Enzyme Scrub to use in the Fall? This exfoliant is Autumn in a bottle. The delicious aroma is the best part- it smells like pumpkin spice pie. This amazing scrub cleanses, detoxifies and removes dry dead skin cells. Apply with outward and upward circular motions and gently remove with your warm aromatic face cloth.

Step 3: Mask

My favorite mask for Fall skincare is the Restorative Mask that we use in our Fall Restorative Facial or the Soothing Gel Mask. Both masks give the skin a big boost of hydration. After you have applied your mask, empty and re-fill your bowl with some fresh steamy water and hover your face over the steam, covering your head with a towel. This will create an herbal steam tent that will help the mask penetrate better into the skin while also giving you an aroma therapy experience. Take some meditation breaths while letting the mask sit for 10 minutes. Gently remove your mask with your warm aromatic face cloth.

Step 4: Tone

The Phyto-Calm Flower Mist is one of the best for Fall. It smells amazing- it is infused with rose water and it’s great for dry skin while chamomile is calming. Spritz the toner above your face and let it fall gently onto your skin.

Step 5: Serum

One of the most hydrating serums you can use is the HA-Revive Hyaluronic Drops. Hyaluronic Acid helps water bind to collagen which gives you that dewy, plump effect. Gently press the serum into your skin with slow mindful motions.

Step 6: Moisturizer

The Phyto-Calm line also has a moisturizer- The Phyto-Calm Aloe Hydrator. This moisturizer is infused with botanical extracts that nourish the skin while also calming and providing protection against environmental factors- like cold, dry, windy weather. A bonus to this product is it also helps with hyperpigmentation that may be left over from Summer. Apply your moisturizer in slow upward, outward motions. You may want to do a little massage to get the blood flowing as well.

Step 7: Eye Cream

The Contour Eye Lift will be a great eye cream for the Fall. It is an ultra-hydrating formula and perfect for delicate skin around the eyes. I love doing a very gentle eye massage when applying eye cream. Small circles around the eyes and temples relieves so much stress in this area.

Step 8: Protect

It is still important to wear SPF even in the Fall. The Daily Mineral Defense SPF 30 is perfect for dry skin as it helps the skin maintain its hydration levels in addition to providing protection from the harmful rays.

Now you’re ready to curl up with a cozy blanket and a good book and doze off to sleep, having peace of mind that you and your beautiful skin are well taken care of!
