How Dry Brushing + Infrared Sauna Support Seasonal Transition

There’s something about mid-to-late March that feels a little in-between.

It's not fully winter, yet not fully spring.

The light seems to start to linger a little longer, there seems to be a shift in the air, and our energy may start to rise a bit, but the body may still feel a little winter heavy.

I always think of this time of year as transitional, which prompts us to incorporate transitional wellness rituals.

Two of my favorite practices for this shift are starting more consistent dry brushing and infrared sauna.

Why Transition Matters

Winter naturally includes more of an inward energy with less sunlight, more comfort foods, and less movement and overall circulation. Skin can also feel dull or congested.

But as the days get longer and spring approaches, the body begins to shift towards more energized, awakened, outward movement again. Supporting that shift can make the transition feel smoother physically and mentally.

Dry brushing and sauna are simple but effective ways to encourage that flow.

Dry Brushing: Encouraging Movement at the Surface

Dry brushing is one of those practices that feels almost too simple to matter, but it does.

Using a natural bristle brush on dry skin before showering gently stimulates circulation and supports lymphatic flow. It also exfoliates dead winter skin, which can build up during colder months.

What I love most is how awakening it feels, and it takes just a few minutes. It signals to the body that we’re energized and moving again.

I personally love dry brushing before a lemon reosemary infused steamed bath with Epsom salts. I make myself a large glass of ice water, and apply a facemask. It's such a soothing, refreshing ritual.

Infrared Sauna: Warming from Within

Dry brushing supports movement from the surface, and sauna supports from deeper within.

Gentle infrared heat increases circulation and encourages sweating, one of the body’s natural detox pathways. But what I notice the most is the nervous system and stress response shift.

After I sauna, there’s such a sense of calm and rejuvenation- a true reset.

And that’s important during seasonal transitions.

Because as energy increases in spring, we can sometimes feel overstimulated at first, due to the change. Supporting the nervous system with sauna and deep relaxation spa treatments, like a facial, massage, or body treatment, allows the body to adapt more gracefully.

A Gentle Seasonal Ritual

This time of year, I focus on supporting what my body is asking for, like better circulation, improved lymph flow, deeper hydration, and sustainable energy.

When the body feels supported through transitions instead of ignored, your skin, mood, and nervous system reflect it.

Radiant wellness isn’t created in one treatment, though. It builds through consistent small habits and supportive practices that compound over time.

That’s one of the reasons we created our Lifestyle Memberships. They’re designed to create continuity. Instead of waiting until you feel depleted or dull, you’re nurturing your skin and nervous system regularly through restoring facials, body treatments, infrared sauna, and nourishing care that evolves with the time of year.

For me personally, the transition into spring can feel both refreshing and overstimulating. Events begin filling the calendar, the spa gets busy, there’s less quiet time at home, and as a homebody, that can feel like a lot.

At the same time, I crave the clearing, decluttering, fresh air, and lighter dinners, and longer evenings.

I’ve learned that if I intentionally schedule slower moments with white space in my calendar, sauna sessions, and time outside, the transition feels balanced instead of overwhelming.

Spring can truly be a gentle reawakening.
